Gnome 2.4 comes standard with GnomeMeeting 0.98.5, a Free video-conferencing application. I have used iSight/iChat and MSN Messenger with a web camera for quite a while now and so here's how Gnomeemeeting compares to these other options.

Nearly a month after Service Pack 1 for Zeta RC1 was released, yellowTAB is working on the last bits and pieces of Service Pack 2. This service pack will be the base of Zeta RC1.1, as the RC1 is completely sold out. The new SP has a new theme and a new default font (modified Vera). This is the second in my series of reviews for debian-based commercial distros that might be appropriate for SOHO use. The first article covered my exploration of Lindows, and this one is focused on Libranet. Before I get started with Libranet I want to clarify a couple of points.

Leading Linux seller Red Hat has recently launched the second version of its enterprise operating system (OS) which touts improved performance, scalability and compatibility with a much wider range of hardware platforms. Coupled with plans to expand its Asian footprint, the firm is hoping to mount an ambitious challenge on the dominant Unix platform and ultimately send the incumbent server OS to its grave. Other Red Hat employees claim the same.

2.4 stable kernel maintainer Marcelo Tosatti recently announced his future plans for the 2.4 kernel. Acknowledging the pending release of the new stable 2.6 kernel, Marcelo explains that we will see only one final round of major fixes in 2.4, after which this kernel will go into maintenance mode. Following the future release of the 2.4.24 kernel, only critical patches and security fixes will be merged.
