Nokia today introduced the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet, signifying a new phase in portable internet communication. Sporting Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a full-fledged web browser, there's only one thing missing: WiMAX. However, a WiMAX version of the N810 will be coming next year. In the meantime, the N810's Wi-Fi connectivity will provide Internet access through hotspots as well as home and office networks, including via Boingo Mobile. Applications compiled for the previous two Internet Tablet models will not be compatible with this one. This hurt the N800 a lot too, because most developers didn't care to re-compile their apps as they kept their N770. Hopefully this is the last time Nokia breaks compatibility.

LinuxCertified today announced its next generation laptops optimized for engineering and scientific community. Powered with Ubuntu 7.04, these laptops focus on high performance and scalability. The laptops come pre-configured with many of the common tools used by technical users. The two new laptop models are: LC2464DC, a 64 bit (based on dual-core Turion 64X2) laptop, and LC2520DC, sporting a 17" screen with accelerated 3D Graphics based on nVidia GeForce Go 7700.

Trolltech announced that Qtopia Phone Edition has been ported to the Neo1973 mobile phone from FIC and open-source software provider OpenMoko and has been GPL'ed. Now, in addition to Trolltech's Qtopia GreenphoneT, developers have an additional reference platform and form factor for development and testing of new mobile Qtopia applications.
