In sad news for people who prefer Mozilla Suite over Firefox, seems will be there no Mozilla Suite 1.8 Final while developers already start talking about fork , others are just happy over the situation. More here.

mozilla or firefox what’s the big difference?
I don’t see much difference at all, besides that firefox is overhyped. They both are slow, bloated and from the Mozilla group.
What a joke!
“FF acquired some users due to the millions spent in publicity. It remains to be seen how many will stay.”
Where did those millions come from? Oh thats right it was donated by the millions of people already using Firefox. What donations were made to the suite?
And it was still extremely popular before the official marketing campaign.
“MoFo told them wehre to go. Not a contest.”
ONE developer willing to keep the suite going, how many are willing to contribute to Firefox? Answer – much more.
“Marketing is a contest?”
You asked me what contests Firefox won in, im giving them to you. Dont ask a question if you dont like the answer.
“You’re repeating 1).”
No im not. Getting people using your software because they like it and getting people involved in the project are totally different things.
“You’re repeating 3).”
Nope. Im talking about the “word of mouth” publicity that comes by creating something people are interested in. Interviews and articles on sites like wired.com are free and diffirent from marketing.
“Curiously the only point you have. FF *has* technical superiorities regarding the Suite, and the reverse in a much smaller extent. However, the Suite wins in performance and stability.”
The suite used to win in performance and stability, ONLY because Firefox used an older version of Gecko (as well as a few other components). Guess what? – Firefox is now based directly off the trunk – no more forks means no more old versions of Gecko (and such forth).
This is the only point I made where you’ve provided some sort of coherant argument against it. Even though I admitted it is arguable.
“Going from being a unique Internet platform into being an overhyped browser, which anyone can try and easily get rid of. And then, what will the MoFo have?”
Hmmm NO. Mozilla does alot more than the suite and Firefox. Have you never heard of Thunderbird, Sunbird, and so on? Mozilla still provides an internet platform without the suite.
“If only Seamonkey would ship with the Mostly Crystal theme by default, all of a sudden the FF people would stare wide eyed and begin to think it might be good after all. Which is a moot point since Mostly Crystal is available for FF/TB as well. Ah, but how do you install a theme in TB? Download what? Then do what? Ah, ok. Will try it someday.”
What exactly are you saying? You are too incompetant to install a theme, heres a hint: Tools -> Themes -> and hit the big install button. Wasnt so hard was it?
And you still havnt answered my question: “And what exactly would Mozilla lose by getting rid of the suite? Hmmmm….”
And this time back it up with valid arguments.
Thunderbird and Camino. Camino is equally as good as Safari. Thunderbird is as good as Mail, I never used browser/email suites. So if Mozilla died I would not notice, from my own personal use. I suspect that a decision had to be made on financing side and …….
