Aqua Data Studio 4.0, the popular multi-platform DB front-end, is released and it’s adding many new features. Aqua Data Studio is free for personal usage. In other interesting multi-platform commercial releases, Lost Marble recently released Moho 5.0.7 (screenshot, running under my Novell Linux).
Moho is a great product for Flash animation, and really intuitive. In fact, I have yet to see a better product for my needs.
Having used previous Aqua Data Studio, I can say that it’s not the most full featured DBMS tool. However, that’s not its intent.
For standard db viewing and maintenance in a heterogeneous and distributed environment, it’s a fantastic tool with a reasonable use policy. It’s also maturing at a decent pace.
With this new release, and EMS’ recent license policy change for their Lite versions, open source db users are quickly getting TOAD-like tools.
Thanks to those companies and their policies.
SQL Server properly.
Installing the drivers is not straightforward.
You can’t edit the table columns – plus .. I forgot whatelse.
Also it runs quite slow.
I will stick to mylilAdmin for SQL Server
I hate SQL Server Enterprise Manager –
I thought these TOAD tools were the answers to my dreams
.. ah well not quite yet.
But please don’t stop trying! I appreciate the continuous efforts.
still no firebird support in it. its not that hard to use the firebird api either..
ohwell….
I wish it so much to have tools like macromedia flash(IDE),fireworks, dreamweaver & director.
These tools are so much for a developer these days.
I tried using wine, but they all really suck, flash mx works, but that is just plain too old.
MM, pls bring your tools to linux!
I showed this to someone at work currently using 3.x and he said that under Debian testing (Sarge) ADS 4 is very unstable and freeze all the time. So if you are having problems with this particular version, try 3.x first before completly dismissing it.
ADS 4.0 is very stable, but certain distributions of Linux are unstable with Java 1.4. This is documented on the download page of ADS. If your Linux distribution is locking up then try Java 1.5, or a stable version of your Linux distribution. The locking up is probably related to Java and the Linux distribution, which would probably lock up with any Java client application.
