I am glad to see OSS influencing a commercial Unix implementation. As mentioned in the LISA ’04 paper, Solaris zones (containers) have roots in FreeBSD jail and Linux VServer. I am waiting for VServer to be included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SuSE Linux Enterprise Server.

linux upstream kernel has already something similar http://kerneltrap.org/node?from=30
which has been merged into 2.6.10 rc1. vserver is currently considered too intrusive. it will probably be incrementally merged. will take atleast 3 revisions or so
