The GNOME 2.0 Desktop Beta 3 release, “La lluvia en Sevilla es una
maravilla“, is ready for your bug-busting and testing pleasure! It is
available for immediate download. The Changelog is here, while the final version is expected to be released on May 1st. In related news, GTK+ 2.01 released yesterday.
WTF?
WOW. shouldnt whoever just did that be participating in their usual activities (which i would assume involve having sex with cattle) instead of playing slashkiddie with OS News?

Thanks, assholes. Learn to code? It’s not the fault of Eugenia, or whoever coded this site that you’re a retard. Oi.
What posesses people to do this crap? Eugenia, please do something about this kind of “l33t hax0r” crap. Kids: Grow the fsck up.
“THERE’S THIS THING CALLED RATE CONTROL, LEARN TO CODE BITCH!”
there’s this thing called decency.. ..you’ll figure it out.. eventually.. i hope..
what kind of poor deprived 12 year old will go to such lengths to get attention.. Doesnt it make you want to comfort their lonely insecure souls?
On second thought, I’d rather just line them all up and pump a few 12 gauge shells through their pimply faces. ;P
Has anyone emailed Eugenia to tell her about this abuse?
KDE 3 is also around the corner featuring full BiDi support – this is essential for Arabic and Hebrew speakers.
Does the new Gnome has this too? if not, is such support planned?
For many of us, Microsoft is the only option, for lack of better localization of other operating systems. This also includes MacOS X which also lags far behind XP/2k.

You need to check again!

The short answer to your question is yes, GNOME2 will have full BiDi support.
One of the best new features of GNOME 2.0 will be its accessibility and localisation support. Pango is designed to allow all kinds of scripts running in any direction, and ATK will allow features like screen readers to be created.
If they only had tried a simpler UI design, themes won’t do it. I like a lot how pretty and simple everything looks on the tweaked KDE of Corel Linux 1.2, so…waiting for the train to come (Xandros).
>THERE’S THIS THING CALLED RATE CONTROL, LEARN TO CODE BITCH!
There is also a thing called common sense and decency… or was once.
I thought there was an all out flame war seeing the number of comments.
hmmm…well, at least I hope that Eugenia can delete the mess soon, so that people won’t get turned off by this type of juvenile crap!
Maybe this juvenile post is from “turkish_delight”, if you remember him?
By the way, there is this traditional war between Greeks and Turks. The two cultures generally don’t like each other much. As in the middle east, the conflict seems to be rooted in some event that happened god-knows-how-many-years ago.
Anyway, I am glad this sort of thing only happens once-in-a-while.
Hey, I am a turkishman myself, so please don’t oversimplify that.
You can’t compare the situation to that in the middle-east, really.
I don’t know many Turkishmen who have anything against Greeks. One of my best colleagues at work is a Greek. So please don’t start such flamewarish threads.
The two cultures have much more in common then most of the conflict-makers would like to admit. That’s one of the reasons why he’s one of my best colleagues at work. Really.
we have page widening posts in OSNews? watch out for the flying pigs!
> a few 12 gauge shells
Why not try and experiment with 155mm artillery??
simple, because you don’t have as many shot, thus reducing the fun factor
maybe we can clone them thus increasing the amount of targets??
Eugenia almost certainly has access to the complete logs that have the evil poster’s IP. My suggestion: ban access from that IP.
maybe we can make a “remove vote” here. for example:
a page widening post and crapflood post, and of course, first p0st. each IP gets to vote once for every post to be removed. I vote once for each of those posts and they are removed. also it might be useful to introduce “ban votes” that ban a person for 1-2 weeks.
having votes reduces the need for moderators and makes things more “fair”
posting bots are not a game to be played by children like you.
This is just an example of what happens when parents don’t supervise their 12-year olds when they’re online.
…anyone commenting on the GNOME topic?, don’t let that Forrest Gump poster take over it.
>>a few 12 gauge shells

Talk about juvenile. I would suggest getting a life folks.
>I would suggest getting a life folks
I never knew I never had a life! ::runs away crying::
Blocking an IP is flawed considering that a few hours later another user might get the same IP from a dialup session, or that an AOL session may change IPs during use.
<p>Slashdot’s 2 minute delay per IP per post doesn’t get in the way of most users (I’m sometimes caught, but not often). With anonymous posting the way it is here there’s not much more to do.

This sounds verrry interesting to me!
Not impressed, kid. One word: infantile.
Eugenia, perhaps this is just another commentary on the sad state of mental health in America.
Let us pray that with age a sense of maturity will come to this young pup. Someday, he may even have to good sense to be embarrassed by his youthful actions….
I was thinking about why would he target Eugenia, and I think it’s because Eugenia shows herself as being likely to actually respond to his sillyness. After all, she got all bent out of shape in the “AMD Shows Hammer Outside Intel Show” story. Anyways, all the people who took the time to respond probably made that guys day.
it is important for me to tell you all abouts my bad experiences with gnome.i do not like these window manager.very hard to use most of time.i would like if they makes it faster.too snail-like.it cost me long uptime argh!

Because we had a troll who wanted to post 100 comments in one go. We had to change some things on the forum to ensure a better level of service instead of hundreads of Goatse.cx images in each comment section. Comments do get posted, just not as fast as they used to. It may take up to 2-3 hours to get posted, but *usually* it does not take more than 5 minutes for them to go live.
