Since Suse was bought I havent heard much about united linux.. Is it still in existance with the companies sharing features so that linux would become standardised
it was the case with suse being the europe disto, connectiva being the south american and the Japan one whose name escapes me United linux would become the standard.
But Suse are ALOT bigger now are they still commited to this vision?
Linux was born OUTSIDE big US computing companies and it is in developing countries that it has been more enthusiastically embraced nowadays. Mainly because users with low financial resources are sick of paying to much for low quality M$ products (and not being able to modify it for its needs). Conectiva is a HIGH QUALITY distribution from a great company which has great talents among its employees, such as 2.4 kernel maintainer Marcelo Tosatti (which recently went to another brazilian company), kde developers and many kernel contributors.
So please, before saying sh*, think about what are you saying.
Should I bother writing a review of it? Has anybody tried out one of the release candidates? Other than the usual package updates, has much changed?
Never tried this one how is it?
Version 9 was pretty standard fare, although apt and Synaptic are included which made it stand out little more. Read my review of it here:

A detailed review (with screenshots) would be most welcome.
A review of 10 RC 1, plus screenshots:

UL has died a long time ago.
Jason, please review it. We saw your review of CL 9,
we consider CL 10 much better and now Conectiva is working
with their community again. Almost 7 months of testing, after first snapshots.
Kernel 2.6 based. Excelent KDE configuration.
Good Gnome setup (with crystal icons).
Standard devel tools plus eclipse and blender as
highlights.
Default instalation now requires just the first CD.

Only IF you feel the need to review yet another distro that looks, smells, and feels, like many of the others.
The only reasons to do so would be you having entirely too much time on your hands, or you are being paid generously to do so.
Most all of the reviews of the various distro tend to read like “same song, different verse”. Nothing too revolutionary on tap with much of this.
…but i can’t understand that language what is it, slovakian?
no..it’s portuguese!. Conectiva is a brazilian’s distro.
From a brazilian (sorry for my english):

Please don’t bother replying to the (IP: —.ipt.aol.com) user, s/he is a misinformed troll.
OK, I will then 🙂
(As soon as I can find a local mirror site that is carrying the ISOs, anyway.)
Jason, bittorrent is working pretty well. About 480Gbytes transferred in the first 48h.
