Testimony during the second week of trial in the consumer class-action lawsuit in Minnesota has revealed (free reg. req.) some embarrassing internal documents from Microsoft which were not disclosed in the bitter 1997 federal antitrust lawsuit that focused on the company’s attempt to control the browser markets in the 1990’s.
“Other evidence presented by the plaintiffs’ lawyers at trial yesterday gave an account of how Microsoft violated a signed secrecy agreement with Go and showed that Microsoft possessed technical documents from Go that it should not have had access to.
A Microsoft spokeswoman said that many of these newly disclosed documents were not relevant to the trial, which focuses on Microsoft pricing actions.”
…apparently has no problem with this, just the EU.
Never heard of it.
But one question comes to mind, how did Palm succeed where Go failed?
But one question comes to mind, how did Palm succeed where Go failed?
Palm had money.
Go was looking for money.
Intel was gonna invest in Go. Billy boy said, “you better not or its war.”
Everyone in microsoft knew PenWindows was bogus, hence the project was kill right after Go died.
pun intended…
I wonder if we could have gotten more than $23 million in the Be, Inc. case if these docs were available at the time. In fact, would any of these be considered as hiding evidence?
Perish the very thought that Bill and The Redmond team would even think about doing anything illegal, immoral, or even upsetting to anyone! And even if they DID, they’d never get away with it surely! And eventually, their consciences would get the better of them. I mean, they’re hardly just in it for the money, are they?
The book ‘The Microsoft File’ by Wendy Goldman-Rohm trawls through the whole anti-trust case history and mentions companies like Go and Be. An interesting read.
However, it’s very frustrating indeed to read that Microsoft have not only behaved like utter bas#@#ds in general, but also don’t care about government or public opinion. I think maybe their arrogance is what will eventually drive me away from even those apps that I ‘need’ Windows for. I wish I did’t love Propellerhead Reason, or that they would port it to Linux (don’t fancy the NZ$4000 price tag on OSX)
My ‘abandon MS ship’ clock has been ticking for ages now, I just need to wait a little bit longer… just a bit longer… and then I’ll switch to Linux altogether. Propellerheads: help me out here will you.
Mmmm.
is the book “Barbarians led by Bill Gates” by longtime Microsoft developer Marlin Eller. It really gives you an idea of the company’s focus on winning at any cost.
