Aicas announced its hard realtime Java technology, JamaicaVM, for the QNX Neutrino RTOS v6.3. Additionally QNX Software Systems released a sneak peek at the QNX Momentics development suite version 6.3 and the OS behind it while they put up for download a free 89-page guide to porting legacy code to the QNX Neutrino RTOS.
I wonder if it supports J2SE 1.4, it must, since it’s realtime and must have non-blocking I/O
(on Windows XP)
the mentioned webpage can’t be viewed with Mozilla 1.7a.
it works fine with Internet Explorer 6.
You are using alpha software. No one here cares if you found a bug. It works fine in Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla 1.4.
sorry about that
(anyway, i’m not going to talk about ‘bug’.
just want to inform that it doesn’t work on Moz1.7a.
just in case that
1) QNX webmaster read this web, so he/she will know.
2) if other readers who use Moz1.7a find the ‘blank’ page like me ..at least they know this is ‘common’ and there’s nothing wrong with their ‘settings’.)
also sorry about being off-topic.

“I wonder if it supports J2SE 1.4, it must, since it’s realtime and must have non-blocking I/O”
Realtime applications don’t require support for asynchrounous I/O, it is easy to emulate using a separate thread per I/O.
Information from the manufacturers website:
. Libraries compatible with JDK J2SE 1.1 and largely compatible with J2SE 2
. Implements the Realtime Specification for Java (RTSJ)
. Deterministic Garbage Collection
I once had the opertunity to work with three different realtime (its more or less becoming a hype word today)
systems BlueCat, WindRivers Wrox and QNX. QNX is really a fine system but somehow it just does not cut it. Its (Neutrino)interface is clumpsy and uncomplete, its just does not feel right. Since WindRiver is going to support Linux i think there will be though days ahead for QNX.
Since WindRiver is going to support Linux i think there will be though days ahead for QNX.
How do you figure that?
Bas figures it quite simply – support for linux = midas touch. Doesn’t matter how good QNX is just because Windriver and the word linux are in the same paragraph of a PR release, Windriver has to be somehow better.
Haven’t you learned yet? Linux good… everything else bad.
For example, if I said that my next pair of underwear was going to support linux, it would then be Ubberwear and all other underwear would be somehow inferior.
