The Model for Self-Managing Java Servers free download is intended to be a working model of a non-stopping, Java-based server. The server has the self-configuration, self-healing, self-optimization, and self-protection of an autonomic computing, self-managed server. This paper provides further information about Autonomic computing systems capable of managing themselves in today’s environment.
Thats actually a really cool idea, another great idea by IBM
Yeah, real cool. Tell that to my wife and kids when I’m out of a job because of these ‘things’.
In other news, have you heard about the shopping carts with the infrared network? It has a map of the store, you can check their stock and more. You don’t even need check-out clerks or _________.
This has been the same thing that has been happening for years and years. You know that.
Yet we, North Americans, still have one of the best standards of living in the world.
Should we reverse every manufacturing and technological advance in the past who knows how many years?
it is only a matter of time before this thing becomes self aware, skynet anyone???
@SashaCohenROCKS
“Yet we, North Americans, still have one of the best standards of living in the world.”
Dude, you North Americans live in an imperial state with 15% of the population, thats 37.5 million people under the poverty line.
I’d stop watching tv and take a look around.
I know there is poverty. But that still does not invalid the fact that North Americans are better off than most of the world.
Should we sacrifice technological advancement for the sole purpose of keeping the current jobs we have? There will be opportunities elsewhere, and of course it won’t be easy, but would you, for example, reverse technological advancements in the farming industry to revive the farming jobs?
…welcome our new java overlords.
The ‘poverty’ line here is like $26,500 per person.
Go find another country where the ‘poor’ live so well.
Most poor end up in the top 20% in their lifetimes anyway.
That 37.5 million represents the 24 and under crowd I would bet.
Stop playing class envy.

SashaCohenROCKS, Chumski’s right, all this innovation is putting countless folks into poverty and we need to do something about it. They didn’t have all this technology in the middle ages(nor do the amish have it even now) and almost everyone had a job and got fed, granted they little more than slaves for the wealthy british elite but hey, they were employed.
The british have been running their mouth for over 200yrs now, just ignore ’em.
“Stop playing class envy.”
Yes, and one day the blood of the proletariat will no longer oil your capitalist machinery and it’s Java servers, long live the revolution!!!!
The two dudes that wrote the article are from India. What does that say about us North Americans? (And I’m not Canadian)

You capitalist pigs will pay for your crimes. Soon the GNU GPL will have you oligarchs crying on your huge pillows stuffed with $100 dollar notes, and stained red with proleteriat blood!
No, what I’m saying is, the big businesses that run our lives and employ a number of us, will cut us lose, fire us, the moment technology affords them the opportunity. American standards of living are among some of the poorest in the world. I say High Technology for the people, not the fat cats.
