be nice, MS is trying to address two big problems in computing!
…..that are in large part their fault in the first place.
Mr Gates, is a really decent person, and the point is Windows is an amazing piece of software, if you don’t like it, don’t use it. Nobody forces you to use it, hey build your own OS if its that easy.
Give Redhat a few years, and Redhat will be right up there as one the most insecure OSes around…time to come the truth shall prevail.
Thanks for the post Eugenia. take care..
Peace.

Microsoft actualluy does its best to force you to user their software. How they do it is not very kosher/catholic/nice/..
Wether you like Microsoft, MS Windows, Outlook or whatever: including a bayes’ian filter in Outlook is good news. I know Mozilla has it for a long time and only a few GNU/Linux MUAs make it difficult to use SpamAssassin or whatnot, but currently Outlook has undeniable the most far spread userbase. A userbase with mostly zip technical knowledge, to boot.
So putting a rather easy to use filter into Outlook is a great step to discourage spammers at all. Their main target probably is the computer unsavvy, the casual user, those who don’t know better. Coincidentally this is a nice description of the typical Outlook user, too.
Cut them out and the spammers are loosing a huge market share. I think this is good news.
Seems like MS doesn’t like spam, unless it’s their own. The Hotmail service has tools to filter spam, but any spam that MS sends automatically bypasses the filters and goes straight to your inbox. Some would argue that “You agree to receive the spam as part of using the service”, but then … why not call it an ad-supported service instead of a free service? Isn’t that false advertising? If I am forced to receive your spam as part of the service, it is no longer free.
That’s the thing about the corporate scum .. they want to get rid of the spam that’s already out there, in order to make room for their ’email marketing’ pushes. In other words, they want this playground all to themselves.
Or just being a pill?

COMDEX to open with address by Gates
The address is expected to include a humorous video depicting Gates and chief executive Steve Ballmer in a spoof of the popular futuristic film, “The Matrix.” Gates will take the role of spiritual guide Morpheus who gives Ballmer — playing Neo, the savior — an “innovation pill” to aid him in battling competitors.
Did anyone try and do something about the spam that B. Gates was spewing?

It happens to everybody, not just Microsoft. AOL will kill all your pop-up ads — EXCEPT their own pop-up ads.

Bill Gates said that he receives all these spam on how to get rich quick — if they were so annoying, they would have been very funny (since he is the richest person on the planet).

What a waste of shareholders money. Producing a 5 minute short film just so they can launch a so-called “inniative”. Sure, I know others have their annual hype feastivals but Microsoft must take first place for being the company most likely to waste money on pointless crap.
Lets home that Microsoft doesn’t butcher another song when they launch Windows Longhorn. Maybe Bill Gates could innovate and come up with their own unique composition/arrangement?
If I were in charge of Microsoft, the first thing I would kill off is pointless crap like that along with their annual indoctrination/hypefeasts which do nothing but waste money, but MSDN suckers into illusions of grandure for a few days and the average CIO thinks that they’re in the “in crowd”.
