Microsoft names an OS after someone who gets his Schwartz twisted. Anyone surprised?
Longhorn? Lonestar? What’s all this? What’s with the love for Texas?
Longhorn is a pub at Whistler-Blackcomb, where Microsoft employees enjoy skiing. Hence “Whistler” as XP’s code name and “Blackcomb” as the original code name for Windows NT 6.0 (not “Longhorn”).
Don’t know about Lonestar, though.
features a screen dripping with raspberry jam..
Personally I just find it interesting that they are advertising for all these products already. One that will not be released for 6 months to a year, and the second that will not be released until the end of 2005 into sometime 2006? Does that sound peculiar to anyone else but me?
No there is nothing strange about what they are doing, they were not advertising for the public, they were advertising for the developers because they need a lot of time to prepare new products. Big differance. Longhorn is far away from complete.

I missed that point. True enough, and it does make sense to get developers on board as early in the cycle as possible. Thanks for pointing that out.
