Well done Neil, this is a major coup for the platform. Hopefully we can all get to savour it when it’s fully released.
Thanks also Eugenia for spotting this one !

Nice. But what RISC OS really needs is a half decent web browser. Oregano 2 is very poor IMO, a port of Mozilla would be a massive improvement.
go risc o. when will we see a faster processor in the Iyonix?
NetBSD has been optimized for this platform yes? and when will risc os 6 come out?
Id like to get a second hand risc machine os looks good.
Hi Paul,
Second hand RISC OS machines can be had pretty cheaply (they are from time to time shown on e-bay).
As a guide if you want one with a “reasonable” performance a StrongARM based RISC PC, with 2MB VRAM and 16MB RAM (or above) would be a good place to start. These can be had for reasonable prices. If you do go for a RISC PC make sure it has RISC OS Version 4.XX (versions before that had silly and irritating restrictions).
Of the newer hardware the Iyonix is the more impressive, offering 2-3 times the performance of a StrongARM RiscPC. It also has a faster I/O Bus, more RAM and uses a later (32bit) version of RISC OS (RISC OS 5). Trouble it is quite expensive. If you find you like RO (as on a second hand RISC PC) then an Iyonix might be a next step up.
It is unlikely that Cino would work affectively on a StrongARM RISC PC, it *will* require an Iyonix.

NetBSD has not yet been ported to Iyonix, but it does run on older RISC OS-based machine. Linux works on Iyonix, and its development is on going.
