Sounds like an intresting distro, but the name kinda sucks. Didn’t anyone learn anything from the .com bust? Don’t put .com, .net, .org, or .anything in your company/product name.
Same goes for OpenOffice.org.
What’s that “QuickTime Plugin” that they bundle with Mozilla? Is it xawtv or something? I wasn’t aware that Apple were making a QT player for Linux…
I don’t think that merely having a tld on your name automatically screws you. Amazon used to use the .com in their name in the old days. Most of the .com’s died because they were selling something either no one wanted or needed or they sold their products for too cheap too long.
OpenOffice.org may be the official name, but I don’t know too many people who include the .org whenever they talk about it because if someone says OpenOffice most people know what your talking about.
My bigger question is whether we really need any more linux distros? How many is enough? Linux companies face the classic problem that generally speaking they sell about the same product with different installers. How does one differ oneself?
Hello,
I found a general information on OpenOffice.org name that you might not be aware of.

We ask three things:
* That you refer to OpenOffice.org as Openoffice.org and not as “OpenOffice” or “Open Office”;
* When describing the code’s features, please use our Features page. It is the most up-to-date; and
* That you list yourself as a “Community Distributor.”

Yes I’d like to ask for same thing if you don’t mind.
It’s “LinuxInstall.org” not “LinuxInstall”.
FYI, I’m also a Community Distributor for OpenOffice.org

Hello,
I figured out a way to play QuickTime movies as a Mozilla Plugin using MPlayer. I knew I can play QuickTime movies with stand alone MPlayer but I wasn’t sure how I can play it within a browser as a plugin until I found a project called mplayerplug-in from sourceforge.net
Source: http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/
The only problem with my situation, I didn’t want it to be the default player for MIME Type RealAudio or RealVideo so I re-compiled it with only MIME Type QuickTime and it turned out great since MIME Type RealAuio/RealVideo is handled by Real Player Plugin not mplyaerplug-in.
FYI, my distro is pre-configured with Acrobat Reader Plugin, Flash Player Plugin, Real Player Plugin, QuickTime Plugin using MPlayer for Mozilla 1.4 by default.

Is LinuxInstall.org based upon Red Hat by any chance?
I’m inclined to think so since:
a. It uses Gnome and the Bluecurve theme
-and-
b. It uses RPMs
Is it “Red Hat Compatible”? Looks like a nice distro with a lot of nifty pre-configurations. I’ll have to give it a spin when I get more time on my hands.
Hello,
Yes, it’s fully “Red Hat Compatible” it sounds like “IBM Compatible” doesn’t it?
It’s basically a personal distribution for myself based on Red Hat Linux 8.0 and if you want a copy and I’ll send you one as long as you pay for the cost of CD-ROM and postage

Damn, I really like this distribution at first sight. Too bad I don’t have a creditcard, and besides that, I don’t like sending creditcard info around the net…
I know they said “don’t whine about .iso” but…
Could you? Somehow?
Hello,
If you prefer pay by check, simply email me your address for the CD-ROM and I’ll email you my address for the check.

The first thing the masses will see is that the screen shots have fonts that are extremely ugly… They’re just begging for antialiasing

Care to look at it again?
The question of whether or not another distro is needed is a legitimate one. But, this distro is a really good one. The installation is great – very clear, easy to understand instructions as each screen comes up. I would recommend it to any Linux newbie and anyone else who would like a nice clean limited install.
