The OpenBSD project is having currently its Hackathon event (despite their financial sponsor backing down last month), where all the developers are getting together to code for almost two weeks. Usually, that’s the month of the year with the most CVS commits and the biggest advancements that are happening to the OS. Canada’s tech media are reporting the event with more info.
Sheesh… why cann’t the media relize that there two very different meanings for the word “HACKER”. I proudly call myself a hacker, although I have nether participate or condon what is commonly called “hacking”.
“They are also hackers, capable of destroying e-mail accounts and wiping out hard drives with the click of a mouse.”
Check out the picture of this guy! Stallman has discovered a way to clone himself!
Ok, maybe just all real hackers look this way
dear god you’re right! thats just scary. Well I will asume the clone was GPL’d. Hopefully if he changes his hair cut, the changes will be submitted back to RMS and applied. That among other changes.
go along to a MSDN conference. It is like seeing fashion disasters 2003. Please, could some of these coders PLEASE learn how to co-ordinate colours and styles. It seems they spend more time on the MS hype wagon than trying to learn some dressing skills.
This is brilliant stuff!
OpenBSD was already mean, and after this some more things might see the light of day in their lovely OS.
Good job!
It’s like LAN Party only for hackers. Oh and i don’t think hackers wipe disk contents only with a mouse click. They use Nine Deadly Strokes (TM)
What are those? I only count 8 in “rm -rf /”….
You need to press “enter” to make an impression on your hacker friends 🙂
Dang! No wonder “startx” doesn’t work!
(that was a joke)
As the owner of the mug you’re comparing to Stallman, I must say that this version is BSD licensed based on “clean room” development to remove any possible GPL taint.
