ThinkSecret reports that Apple provided a pre-release seed of Mac OS X v10.2.5 to developers Friday, releasing updates to both the client and server version. Version 10.2.5 contains a variety of fixes, including updates and enhancements to QuickDraw, IPSec, TCP performance, web services, Sound Manager, and Windows 2000 compatibility.
i hope this fixes the battery life problems that i and many others have been having.
Also the 1969 date/time problem created by 10.2.4! Arrgh
i hope this fixes the battery life problems that i and many others have been having.
Do you have any information as to the specifics of this? I get around 5 hours of life out of my iBook.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on whether this version offers prebinding fixes. I’m still using a workaround which has done wonders for my system stability. Still, OS X crashes occasionaly, which I find very unbecoming of it considering its Unix underpinnings…
Are there any further improvements to the stability and performance of the address book? I really enjoyed the address book improvements brought by 10.2.4
Also, I must say that Apple’s address book is greater than every respect than M$ addre$$ book
I only hope this time they wont rob apple users again like last time what they did
Learn about what you are talking about instead of wasting your, and our, time.
10.x.x releases are FREE, have always been FREE, will always be FREE.
TIME (Anon): Yes, it’s fixed.
Bascule: can you explain your problems better? You keep harping on this and harping on this–I have to wonder how frequently this occurs, and why does this problem seemingly focus on you? (I’ve followed some of the info on it, but I know very few who have been affected. I haven’t had a single panic due to this problem, and I use X full time, every day.)
10.2 was not free. It was however worth the cost

By typing “10.x.x” I was referring to .x.x releases, Jason. We all know (or should know) that 10.2.5 will be just as free as .1.1,.1.2,.1.3,.2.1,.2.2,.2.3,.2.4.
You dig, now?
10.x.x != 10.2.x.
Before you correct Yasasvi ( or me for that matter ) make sure you are clear in your own post. If you meant 10.2.x maybe you should have written it instead of 10.x.x. The fact that 10.2 was NOT free was a huge issue for many Mac users. Your comments about 10.x.x imply that OS X updates have always been free. Not the case. While I happily paid my $99 for Jaguar (10.2), Yasasvi has a valid bitch.
Will 10.2.5 be free? Most likely. Will updates for 10.x.x “always be FREE” as you state, I very much doubt it.
You dig, now?

There’s no reason to argue over semantics, but I heartedly disagree:
Had I said 10.x, that would have implied 10.1 and 10.2. But instead I said, 10.x.x. Did 10.1 or 10.2 have a .0 after the version? No, so they don’t qualify.
The only way to be more clear would be to smack you across the head.
And I will repeat 10.x.x releases have always been free and will continue to be FREE.
nah, you are wrong. Using X twice implies that you mean the same number is used. So you are basically saying 10.1.1, 10.2.2, 10.3.3, etc. And in that case, you would be wrong.
Or at least I presume you are making a joke.
If not, I fear for the education of this country or whatever country you are from.
And by the way, I still wouldn’t be wrong: no charge for .1.1, .2.2, and .3.3 doesn’t exist yet, but guess what? There will not be a charge for any X.y.z release–never has, never will.
i have a 15″ 1 GHz powerbook and untill 10.2.4 i got 3 hours of battery life like clockwork with max performance and max screen brightness. since 10.2.4 it slowly started going down till now i get about 1 hour. Also, a friend of mine just got a 12″ powerbook and he gets about 30 minutes of battery life MAX. it’s insane.

you know it could be you need a new battery.
in the G3 powerbooks batteries have been shot, or reduced to minutes of running time, that doesnt happen in .2.3
I’ve run my iBook, 600mhz G3, w/ 10.2.4 and it runs for 2.5-3 hours.
ok… now i have heard so many people on so many threads say “oh, maybe you need a new battery” well duh. 10.2.4 is killing peoples batteries. my 1 GHz powerbook is 4 months old, the battery is not at the end of its life. LOTS of people have had the SAME problem since 10.2.4, so no, sorry, it’s 10.2.4. look around and see how many people are having this problem… it ain’t just me. *sorry to sound angry… last night i celebrated my 21st b-day… my head hurts…*
