Microsoft has been working on a new mysterious Surface device for at least two years. Codenamed Andromeda, the device has appeared in patents, reports, and in operating system references multiple times and will include a dual-display design. According to a Microsoft internal document obtained by The Verge, it’s also going to be a pocketable Surface device.
I find this a very exciting device, and I can’t wait to see its final incarnation. It’s supposed to be released this year, so expect it to appear somewhere this Autumn.
Might this be the Courier-like device The Verge reported about last year? I remember seeing something about that as well on OSNews some months ago.

Yes.
All I want is an updated Psion Series 5.
Ideally with a x64 CPU and full blown Win 10 Pro.

Now, that would be nice. I’d buy one in a heartbeat. It would have to have a keyboard for that, though, not a second screen.
Thats the point.
The Series 5 has a realy great keyboard.
Think old-school Thinkpad keyboard in 16x7cm.
The Gemini PDA should be a real fit for you then
First of it disqualifies itselfe thanks to android.
Sorry, but android is a piece of shit.
And as far as I have heard the keyboard has issues.
I am wishing to buy a Gemini PDA or a BlackBerry Key2… ok, they are not as good as the BlackBerry Passport, but at least they have a physical keyboard.
Ok, the keyboard can’t be fixed. But… Its getting an alternative operating system..

That definitely improves the situation.

Posting from my Gemini running Debian…
Nope. I want a full computer, not a gimped Android pos.
Sounds like the GPD Pocket might be what you are looking for?
Not quite, but it’s definitely in the right direction
And they’ll obviously add a cellular radio chip so people can place calls via bluetooth and whatnot.
Add a smaller form factor and, boom, Windows Phone reincarnated.
So like every single device every made since the dawn of time, we’ll wait for version 2.0 or 3.0 to get something usable?
Ever since I saw the Courier mockups I’ve believed in the potential of this kind of device, if given the proper software to go with it.

I imagine it won’t be a straight-up clone of this interface since they are going in new directions with “fluent design” and at this point I doubt they’re going to stray much from Windows 10, but if they incorporate even a fraction of the ideas from Courier, for instance the ability to “tuck” things into the middle in order to copy-paste between pages, that would be awesome.
Most importantly, let’s just hope this thing actually makes it to release this time!
