After months of speculation, France’s economy minister Bruno Le Maire announced in an interview with the JDD that Europe’s new tax model for tech giants is happening. The plan will be unveiled in the next few weeks.
This is long overdue, but I have little faith that it won’t be riddled with new loopholes and vague exceptions only accessible to a selec few.
before anyone stumps up a bent Euro.
For starters it has to apply to ALL EU companies as well. If it didn’t then it would the thrown out in court OR start another trade war with the Trumpster which won’t do anyone any good.
Personally, the EU Tax laws need sorting out. If you stop the current loopholes that allow say cross licensing via a two men and a dog subsidiary in Luxembourg then everyone would be on a far more even keel. Just adding more regulation, while popular with Elected Officials is the wrong way to go.
Politicians should learn the KISS principals.
Perhaps if european nations could agree on anything.
Haha i know right?
There will always be euro member states with lower taxes, and there will always be free trade between the states. Stopping this from happening would actually render the european union worthless.
