Aside from new iPhones, theres more Apple news – the company has set release dates for iOS 11 – 19 September – and macOS High Sierra – 25 September. I can’t say much about High Sierra – I don’t have a Mac – but iOS 11 is an absolute must, especially for iPad users. I’ve been using it for a long time now on my 2017 iPad Pro 12.9″, and I haven’t looked back to my laptop since buying it and installing iOS 11 on it.
iOS 11 is a huge leap forward for the iPad, and it’ll make your tablet feel like a new, and much more capable device.
Sierra was okay. I can’t say I really had any issues. I didn’t really notice the upgrade to be honest. Hopefully this one is more memorable, for good reasons obviously.
The only real problem with Sierra for me is that bug where any letter you type gets repeated 3 times in a launchpad. The solution is to run “killall Dock”, but it’s temporary and after the reboot issue reappears.
Okay – maybe I didn’t use Launchpad much. I’ll see if it happens for me later.
Had a look – not seeing that issue.
Lucky you. I was very annoyed with this bug, thought it’s localized to my machine, but then googled and found a discussion about this known bug in Mac forums.
Wasn’t it you who once said “Or just buy a Mac and be done with this nonsense” in response to some ad-ware/bloat-ware being shipped with Windows?..
I’m looking forward to seeing iOS 11 in action. I wish I could have beta tested it, but I only have one iPad and I rely on it heavily for my job.
It used to be that Apple hardware was top notch. The best you could get. And the software OS was just ok, not terrible.
Now the macOS is good. And the hardware is terrible, driven by the fashionista market.
Humf
I got an older MacBook Pro and upgraded the internal components. That worked pretty much perfectly for me. All I lost was a little processor power and Retina, but I paid less than half the price for the same RAM, and I have a 1TB and 240GB SSD internally, with the option to upgrade the 240GB when I get more cash.
I’m currently on 15″ MBP Retina 2015 model, but I get tempted to upgrade to the latest one because of improved screen (I do some photography in my free time) and faster SSDs. And yet, I still am afraid to do that, since looking at user opinions, latest MBPs seem to be controversial at best.
I can’t wait to test them both. I’m gleefully surprised apple has kept macOS touchscreen free, they promised and delivered.
I might be in the minority’s but I can’t wait for them to get their act together with their hardware and re-take their stance on battery length vs slimness. If I wanted an apple ultra-slim I’d buy an iPad.
Completely agreed on both points. I hate touchscreens and I love long battery life.
