Computer security researchers analyzing a North Korean tablet computer have discovered a level of surveillance and control not previously seen inside electronics from the DPRK. If used across all tablets and smartphones, the system could significantly impact the ability of activists to send digital information into North Korea that can be viewed and shared by citizens.
With the war propaganda machine in full swing, it’s easy to forget that while the North-Korean regime is obviously deeply abhorrent, North-Koreans are just people like you and I, who just want to live a normal life. And yes, they also want cool gadgets.
The free flow of information is one of the greatest threats the regime faces and nothing enables it like digital networks.
Perfect description of US regime with Obama’s mass surveillance and countless attempts to censor and block the information that contradict with MSM narrative

viton,
The North Korea comparison goes too far IMHO, we’re free to discuss government problems exactly because we are not being censored.
Nevertheless I agree that the mass government surveillance programs go against our civil rights. It really astounds me that in this country we have a secret court making legal precedents overriding privacy rights in secret. This continues to to exist despite having being found unconstitutional and complaints within the court itself. Although I share your disappoint in Obama for opting not do anything to address this, we must keep in mind this type of secret surveillance was happening long before Obama under Bush, Clinton, and you can bet it’s happening now with Trump. The evidence seems to suggest this is not a partisan issue, so far both mainstream parties have been complicit in allowing it to continue.
All totalitarian socialists are menacing and murdering peoples and thus must be defeated, no matter if they are globalist, right or left wing socialist. No totalitarianism would be the slogan and throwing the communists, socialists, national socialist, fascists, mugabists, islamists and so on into a huge pit and let them fight it out would be preferable.
Not that it would lead to a win for either of them in this case since, hopefulle there would be noone left.
Still waiting for an update version of Ryugyong Baduk, a North Korean go simulator in the 90s.
