Jolla C is the first ever Sailfish OS community device, with a limited 1,000 units available for our developer and fan community. It is expected to ship in July 2016. Jolla C is used by Jolla developers and community members, and its users will naturally get all the latest vanilla Sailfish OS releases. Selected Jolla C users will be also invited to test Beta OS releases. With a quad-core Snapdragon™ processor, 2 GB memory, beautiful 5†HD display and dual SIM, the Jolla C works beautifully with Sailfish OS. You will get to keep the device for yourself after the Program.
Jolla is releasing a new smartphone, but in a very limited number – only a 1000 pieces – for selected users. It’s not exactly a massive step forward compared to the first Jolla device, but it’s a nice spec bump nonetheless.
It’s unlikely many of us will own this one.
I just got half of my money back after their tablet flop…i wouldnt trust them to deliver a handshake
Even if they do deliver that handshake, check your rings afterwards.
If not ask for.
Wishing the best to Sailfish Community
And please offer Kishe one unit on his plus account.
Who is going to want this phone?
Its not cutting edge, its old hardware with an unsupported OS and a community that is disenfranchised after a failed tablet launch fiasco.
I would be surprised if they even managed to sell off the 1000 they made..
If they had been a bit radical, put an SD 820 in extra RAM etc, to compete with the big boys, then ok, this feels like little more than a final hurrah and stock clearance
Jolla C is actually re branded Intex Aqua Fish. So most likely there is more than 1000.
Useful info. Thanks!
These specs seem to match roughly with those from my ancient (but much loved) Nokia Lumia 1020. Pretty sure the camera quality is not going to match though, and phones like the 1020 can now be bought for about 100 Euro. Just putting things in perspective here.
I am quite surprised that they do such a give away while not having returned most of the money for the tablets (and not going to do that for at least another 6-12 months)

Do they still have fans?
They’re either already out of stock, or they weren’t available yet.
but you can’t buy one…
They’re only expecting to ship in July and you need to join their “Sailfish Community Device Program” to get it, so it isn’t and won’t be available through their store.
Calling it ‘limited edition’ seems to be meant a clever trick if you do not expect to find more than 1000 buyers anyway.
*DISCLAIMER: The price of 169 EUR, including VAT and free-of-charge shipping, is the stated price for Finland. Final price will vary, depending on your country of residence.
And all sold out
Good info.
That’s a reasonable price, I would say. And if they’ve got enough developer interest to sell out quickly, then all the better.
I wish them all possible success, despite failures of the past. We really need alternatives in the mobile OS field!
We do. But the market reality has clearly destroyed any contender. Windows phone, blackberry, WebOS, firefoxOS, Ubuntu Mobile, Meego, Tizen. And others. This is just another example of a dead OS sadly. It might hold a small community but cheering 1000 sales when MS is considered a failure at >4 Million speaks volumes
Yeah I’m all for alternatives, but at this point Jolla is more a charity case than an alternative really.
