A very in-depth presentation concerning Virtualization Based Security (VBS) in Windows 10/Server 2016, something Microsoft seems to be investing heavily in. It’s from Alex Ionescu, of ReactOS fame, delivered at Blackhat 2015.

This is different from qubes, how?
That it’s part of a mainstream OS that a lot of people are/will be using. That’s something.
I’ll admit I’m rather disgusted with other aspects of Windows 10 – e.g. try looking at a Wireshark log of a Win10 system’s traffic, and tell me how much outbound stuff is going to MS telemetry servers. (Answer: an awful lot, and very frequently.) But at least they seem to be taking the client security side of things seriously, now.
Edit: also, I may be wrong on this, but I think that using memory access control to protect cryptographic keys is completely new; at least on anything outside research OSes.
