This new release – one of the final 1.x released before 2.0 and the tablet hit, I suppose – integrates a whole bunch of options and settings related to the Android application support into the Sailfish settings applications, such as stopping/restarting Alien Dalvik, blocking Android applications from accessing your Sailfish contacts, allowing Android applications to keep running properly in the background, and so on.
There’s more, so be sure to update.
Updated my Nokia N950 just today. I never found the need to buy a Jolla phone, not when Sailfish actually runs better on my phone, plus I have a physical keyboard, yaay. I still have another N950, new in the box so I’ll be using this phone for a long, long while. Which is just fine by me as it’s one of my favorite phones of all time. I mean I have a friggen LAMP server running on it so I can program on the go. I was offered 1,200 bucks for it a few months back I politely refused. If anyone else has this phone, don’t sell it, it’s one of the rarest gadgets ever made.
I still have N950, but Nexus 5 is just more performant, and it can also run Sailfish. So I switched.
I agree however that N950 hardware design is great. One of the best devices I ever saw.

Oh wow, I just looked up the compatability and installation process for Sailfish OS on a Nexus 5. I had no idea it was just so “worky”.
Have you experienced any drawbacks to running Sailfish OS on a non-Jolla mobile phone? It looks like the primary benefits are having a bigger screen with more pixels and a faster processor. Have you used a Jolla mobile? Are the benefits noticable?
Yeah, Nexus 5 by far is the best community supported device to run Sailfish now, simply because it got most effort from porters who work on hardware adaptation layer.
I never got an official Jolla handset because it doesn’t work with my LTE network (while Nexus 5 does).
The main drawback of community ports is lack of commercial packages at present. For instance I can’t use ActiveSync client, which unfortunately can be useful for corporate mail servers. Jolla said they’ll look into enabling buying such packages on non Jolla installations.

I would love an N950, would probably move away from my Note 4 if I could get one. If sailfish runs well on it, does it run well on the N9? I haven’t looked in so long, and would love to flash my N9 with it.
Hell, now that I’ve got some extra cash, I’d consider getting a Nexus 5 for some sailfish love.
