Google today has announced a major update to Android Wear, bringing some long-awaited official functionality to its smartwatches – and a host of new features to go along with them.
There’s a lot going on here, folks, and updates will arrive in their usual staggered fashion. The big strokes are official support for third-party watch faces, a new Android Wear app, and software all around.
Can’t wait for this update to hit my Moto 360. It’s based on Android 5.0, so the update is more substantial than the mentioned new features alone.
My brand new smart watch is also in the drawer now. What a useless product category.
I warned you about Smart Watches bro! I told you dog!
Get it out of your drawer and onto ebay! You get top money for used smartwatches while they’re the latest model, but much less later.
I will keep using my regular watch to check the time and looking at notifications on my iPhone when it is convenient and proper to do so…..which is not the instant they come in and during an interaction with another human being that requires full attention. I find it incredibly rude for someone to be looking at their phone the entire time during a meeting. It feels like they are wasting my time by forcing themselves to be there when all they want to do is play with their phone. Maybe that’s just me.
For the record, even though I am a Mac/iOS user, I will NOT be buying the Watch when it comes out. Like a previous poster, this is a completely useless product category to me.

Nobody WANTS to be in a meeting. 90% are a waste of time for everyone involved to begin with.
Things I do on my phone during meetings:
-Check calendar for potential dates relevant to current discussion.
-Research topic further to catch up or plan out further than the current discussion level
-Add to my todo list
-Take notes
All of them are very appropriate and beneficial to do. I get really irked by people who think I’m doing anything other than that, and preemptively ban phones in meetings.
I’m loving my Moto 360, in fact it’s been even more useful than I thought it would be. And these software updates keep arriving on a regular basis to improve the experience still further. There are a few obvious areas for Motorola to improve on the hardware side, but Wear itself is rapidly developing into a mature platform.
I wonder if the second generation 360 will arrive before Apple’s smartwatch? It would certainly be interesting to contrast them, in terms of both price and functionality.
LG G watch here. No update yet.
I use mine a lot for navigation.
My car is pretty small and has no room for a satnav without obstructing the view. A smartwatch works really well.
That’s literally the dumbest thing I’ve ever read on OSN so far.
Why?
Try fitting a satnav in here: http://www.velocityjournal.com/images/full/2011/537/lt2012elise5374…
As for your comment … it can’t be much brighter than mine … can it?
