Guest post by ROSALabs has released ‘Desktop Fresh’, the latest version of its Linux desktop environment. Mandriva collaborated with ROSALabs in early 2012, but this desktop isn’t Mandriva-specific. The new version boasts improved boot time, a social media app called TimeFrame, and an original launcher app called SimpleWelcome, all somewhat modified to accommodate tablet/phone interfaces.
So it is another “social desktop” this time written in QML? In the demo vids it almost looks like plasma-desktop with an iOS touchlike launcher. I will not install it at this time, but i am probably not the target audience.
I’m not the target audience either, though I *am* addicted to innovative interfaces (some exclusions apply).
I think it is Plasma. In the article they mention some use of the Plasma desktop and deciding not to use it for other things.
