For Intel, the switch from Moblin to MeeGo is just rebranding. They gain exposure and sacrifice nothing.
For Nokia, the switch from Maemo to MeeGo is rewriting. A fail from the beginning.
If only Nokia did the same by just rebranding Harmattan as MeeGo and be done with it. End users do not care whether the phone uses DEB or RPM, while developers can withstand the abuse from multiple SDKs.
Well… That is exactly what they did for the N9. It is a “faux”-Meego – a meego-software-compatible version of Harmattan.

u might be right but component prices has came down.
Memory, LCD and others is priced lower now.
On another topic.
Just visited Intel’s AppUp store to look at it’s Meego offerings. Cant seem to find it. Meego is not listed under supported OS’s. Few months ago Meego was listed on the site’s frontend.
Or am i blind.
You’re right. All I see are options for Win XP and Win 7 as options when searching for software. Not a good sign. That being said, I can’t remember if I saw Meego listed as an option before on AppUp.
Distinctly remembered Meego as being listed before. Specifically looked for it then about 6 months ago.
But it was lower profile than the Win options though.

The hardware looks sexy enough but for me the jury is still out on MeeGo. I’d go for the hardware alone and throw on a copy of Lubuntu. That is more than enough hardware to make Lubuntu launch very well.
