Undoubtedly they did earn some money from IP licensing. A brief scan of the new SEC report did not, however, reveal where this income is itemized or summarized.

Unaudited reports are not worth a cracker.
Those reports are not up to the normal grade has been submitted to the stock market in the past.
http://www.microsoft.com Ok why are they releasing reports that are not up to their normal standard.
This kind of behavior was early actions that showed problems with enron.
Lets wait for the Audited verisons before making any claims on profits. Yes there is a chance after auditing it could be different numbers completely.
Comparing Microsoft to Enron? Nice try, troll.
Last year MS released form 8-K the “Current Report” on July 22. The audited Annual Report, form 10-K, was released on July 30. The earnings and profit numbers are identical between the two reports.
If they do the same this year, it’s only one week until the audited report is available. You really think Microsoft will alter their earnings significantly between now and the end of the month? When have they previously done so?
And how is this year’s form 8-K Current Report not up to the “normal standards” of previous years’?

“You really think Microsoft will alter their earnings significantly between now and the end of the month? When have they previously done so?”
Early 2000 one of the reports did have a error. It was a under report back then. Simple fact most normal companies don’t go press nuts until they have the 10-K in their hands prevents egg on face as well.
Yes unless there is a error they should be the same. Errors are not impossible this is why the requirement to audit exists.
Its very Enron to be using the 8-K report. Yes it was Enron that made to common for a while for 8-K reports to be sent to press before 10-K were ready.
Really waiting a few weeks for the 10-K before doing assessments is the 100 percent wise thing todo.
