“After over 4 months of work, many sleepless nights, and contributions from people all around the world, I am proud to release CyanogenMod 7.0 into the wild! CM7 is based on the 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) release of Android from Google. We’ve added most of the great features from CM6 you know and love, and many new ones including support for several tablets. We are currently providing support for 30 devices! I continue to be amazed with this community and the dedication of everyone involved.”
Can’t find it…its not on the mirrors…and not in ROM manager.
What gives Cyanogen?
I want my 7.0…without us original Droids you wouldn’t have made it this far, so don’t forget us.
K thx.
That’s odd, I downloaded it through ROM Manager yesterday. I just looked, and it’s on the official website too.

Take a look at the bug reports. Their final release reads more like a first beta release. Basic phone features don’t even work properly. Bluetooth has issues.
If a phone update can’t even perform its core functionality, its in no way ready for production use. Its a beta release at best.
When cyanogen first came on the scene, they provided a very strong and stable release. Sadly, CM is frequently the source of many a headache for Android application developers.
I love CM’s features but I sincerely wish they would at least fix core feature bugs and resolve issues which squarely place this as a beta release before they announce it as a production ready release.
Sadly, the CM community has decided features are more important than stability and feature completeness. I sincerely hope CM gets back to its roots.
There are some really odd blind spots in 7. Another peculiarity for me is that it appears to be a step backwards from RC3. I have the Evo and I had to do a workaround for GPS. Strange theme-ing quirks abound (notification icons will turn white instead of the correct blue, etc…) I have never used bluetooth on any phone, so I can’t say if it affects mine though.
I can say though that this is the fasted ROM I have used yet though. The feature set is very impressive. I definitely think that another RC though.
Ya, based on the bug reports, they really need another RC or three or four before declaring a final. My post was really addressing core phone features (I consider those important for a device which first and foremost purports to be a phone). When you expand beyond that, things like AGPS and GPS failing to work and even failing to work reliably when it does work are more serious issues for a generalized “smart device.” Just imagine how many applications fail to work when location services can’t even be trusted.
I completely agree about its speed. Speed and number of features are really profound but its really hard to enjoy those attributes which CM creates so many breakages and incomplete features. And as you point out, the number of other, noteworhty issues, are fairly numerous.

I guess not all CM7 phones are the same. I have been running my own builds of CM7 since before the nightlies, then the nightlies, then the RC’s and now CM7 final.
It has gotten more and more stable every day.
I run a T-Mobile G2 (which I believe is what Cyanogen runs also) so maybe that has something to do with it.
Also keep in mind with how easy it is to root these things there are dumber and dumber people running CyanogenMod. A lot of the bugs and bad press come from people who don’t wipe their data or cache partitions prior to upgrading.
Read again. A lot of the bugs have existed during mid CM6 development cycle have been all but ignored. Furthermore, most of the bug reports have confirmations and even have others asking to retest with “final” and followups indicating the problems still exist.
Could you state some of the core issues you’re talking about specifically?
I have been using CM7 as a daily driver for a long time.
Maybe there is “core functionality” that I’m missing out on.
Everything I use my CM7 phone for works flawlessly.
Wifi, Tethering, BlueTooth, camera, speaker, gallery, movies, youtube, etc.
Please give a specific example
Seriously, you’d rather troll and argue about fact than simply visit the bug tracking site as originally stated?
My HTC Tattoo/Click feels reborn with CM7 on it! Thank you guys at CyanogenMod team for your hard work!
