they are great relational databases that i like (i can include here even mysql because is too fast). At least i didn’t expected firebird here .Nice surprise
More interesting than the x.x.1 release shift, did anyone see the other links on the press release?
“PgSQL, Inc Releases eRServer v1.2
http://www.pgsql.com/press/PR_eRServer1_2.html“
Now that looks very interesting. Anyone here played with eRServer yet? Of course, it’s not a free download, like PostgreSQL itself, but it comes with the high-end support contracts. I suppose if your data is important enough, it’s worth it.
(What we have here, folks, is a replication system for PostgreSQL. The supposed lack of replication has been the #1 reason many people don’t migrate to PostgreSQL. More details at http://www.erserver.com/)
Why is it that the FireBird Client needs path to database in its connect string?
Example
jupiter:/usr/local/firebird/testDB
The client should not need to know this, should it?
Does it mean that the clients need to be reconfigured if the DB location changes?
Insights?
