MenuetOS 0.72 released with TCP/IP from Mike Hibbett & demos: OpenGL, 3D Maze, games, GUI appearance setup etc. Additionally, SkyOS has some interesting updates too.
I tried it a long time ago (0.6x something iirc) and it looked promising. Tried it a week ago, it was way too cluttered and way too weird for me. Might be nice as an embedded x86 OS, but I doubt it. I cant see a future here, could someone tell me where this OS is heading other than the novelty bin?
I cant find anything on the site saying that there is OpenGL support in MenuetOS. They do mention 3D demos, but.. 3D != OpenGL. I checked out the 3d demo page, sure its a 3d engine, but once again, its not OpenGL. Not to mention how unoptimized it is, geez, requiring 500Mhz to do what it was doing?? That goes to show that assembly doesnt automatically make things fast. Then again, the performance could be blaimed on menuetos itself, especially the video driver (AWFULLY slow last time i tried it).
Would it be possible for osnews to interview Robert Szeleney about skyos? pleeease… 😀

I really do have to try this baby out some time. It looks great!
For something that is pure assembler, it really does accomplish a lot.

Dear Richard F., click on icon on the down right corner that says ‘OpenGL’, is that clear enough for you ?
