“Windows Phone 7 is entering a tough market. Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android have become well-entrenched, widely used platforms, and both have application stores boasting tens or hundreds of thousands of applications. At launch, Windows Phone 7 will certainly have its virtues – a slick user interface, a first-rate e-mail client, and extensive integration with online services — but it will also lack a great many features that its competitors include. But the modern, consumer-friendly, touch-friendly smartphone market is still a new one, expected to undergo substantial growth over the next few years. Microsoft may be late to the game, but probably isn’t too late – there’s certainly no winner yet. And the company has one major strength its competitors lack.”
…is wait and see.
I was a little surprised by all the recent reports of android phones. On the other hand, a good friend of mine was in Baltimore a couple weeks ago and got so angry at the constant cut-outs (bad reception) on his iPhone that he threw it onto the sidewalk and smashed it.
He then went to Verizon and bought a some sort of droid phone…
So who knows.
Damn why not give it away!
He has a rather fiery temper. I don’t know if that comes from being a professional musician and artist or what…
ive never understood why someone would be so wasteful with these things, it’s a poor reflection on society that can do these things.
Personally if i don’t like a device and want to get shot then i would either recycle it and get cash from one of those mobile phone recyclers (is it a UK only thing?) or sell it on eBay and use the cash to get a new phone or whatever i wanted.
As for the topic on hand, it’ll be really interesting if Microsoft can make a success in this market. I think the one thing they will have to make sure works out of the box is the sync and PC side of the software, as i know having really crappy software to sync music, backs etc really cheeses off people. Im not refering to iTunes as i personally love it, it’s not hassle and does everything i need to sync my music, tv shows, playlists. Im thinking of the really horrible software given away on some samsung phones (tocca) and sony phones.
US-ican here.
You could give them away to battered womens’ groups at least. Since 911 still works on disconnected phones, they can and do use them in emergency situations.
I’m sure there are other worthy uses and causes they can be used towards.
Now I can safely say that I’ve heard it all. I would have never guessed there will be people who actualy like crappy software.
Given the fact that there are literally hundreds of thousands of quality apps on both iPhone and Android, I’d say neither platform is suffering from a lack of developers.
Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers! Developers!

I think it was a subliminal message about developers.
Awesome!

They are certainly saucy, if not a secret sauce.
