reallllllly looking forward to this. Would make a nice dual boot option for my QNX and WinCE laptop. Ecomstation would be perfect as the 3rd os, for those times that QNX or WinCE just don’t cut it as a desktop os.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I bet you would be the only kid on the block with a laptop that tri-boots QNX, WinCE and OS/2 (eComStation). Just a guess.
yup, maybe in the world. But my job requires me to to have a laptop that can stay on for close to forever, and a file system that stores very sensitive data that if the laptop was ever lost, no one being able to read its contents is a must. can you imagine trying to plug that laptop hard drive into a computer and watch something like partition magic try to figure out what the hell a QNX file system is? WinCE using exFAT is now easer to read with the introduction of windows 7 (and back posring that feature to Vista), and the JFS file system for eCom is another wild card.

exFAT and JFS are easy peasy. QNX would trip me up ( aka take me more than an hour to identify and mount), though. But you should probably think about whole disk encryption, if thats a real concern.
I have whole disk encryption set up as well via TrueCrypt, not to mention BIOS passwords needing to be entered to allow booting off the hard drive. the rest is a secret. was looking into PGP, but i am still not sure how i feel about it.
Yeah, okay. That passes the BS test. Your data is safe from me. I don’t have the right temperament for rubber hose cryptography.
You better hope they aren’t running Linux, since there’s at least read support for the QNX filesystem. There used to be some preliminary write support for it too, but not sure if that ever developed into anything. If you’re storing sensitive data, you’d better encrypt it in some way. Obscurity isn’t much of a defense if your system gets snagged by someone who knows their shite.
Kind of expensive, but you could always invest in a tritium battery ;^)
It’s pretty pricey.
Most of the boxes that I have which could run OS/2 or eCS 1.2 are effectively dead now due to CMOS battery issues (hard to replace a spot-welded battery), but I think I can resurrect at least one of those to take a look (since I paid for a copy and all oh so many years ago). I’m hoping the batteries are just spot soldered in place, not welded.
I ran Warp 4 FP 15 until maybe 18 months ago when that box stopped booting for unknown reasons. When I have the time, maybe I’ll try to bring that one back as well…

You can solder a new battery onto the leads of the dead one without too much trouble or risk, especially if you use heat sinks to isolate the leads from the mobo.

Just join something like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eComStation/ and you’ll get sufficient information to be able to run eComStation on modern hardware.
