“Well the Lindows.com folks haven’t been idle between now and then. The latest version of Lindows was just released and we were surprised to find that Lindows has jumped all the way from version 2.0 to version 3.0. That’s quite a leap in so short a time.” Read the review at ExtremeTech. Recently, OSNews also posted a review of LindowsOS 3.0.
It is good that Lindows has not blocked the ability to use apt-get from the command line – which is about as easy a command line function as there is. This type of thing helps make up for past sins 🙂
Also, in a “Michael’s Minutes” email today, there was a testamonial email from a Lindows user who was praising Lindows, but was also praising Lycoris in the same email. If Lindows continues to keep on the up-and-up like this, they could gain more credibility.
OSnews has featured at least 3 articles, reviews of LindowsOS 2.0, 3.0, and the misconceptions piece – which, combined, have covered everything in this article and then some. Glad to see this site is on the ball.
It’s funny, Lindows has generated so much hype and has so much media/news coverage that I have friends that have never even used Linux talking about Lindows being the next big thing.
This makes me rather sad, it’s kinda like the .NET hype except Lindows has something you can actually try.
I used Lindows for about two days **format**, SuSE, RH, Debian, Mandrake they give you a much better Linux feel. I moved away from Windows, I didn’t do it to come back to a Windows like feel.

you’re missing the point….this isn’t meant for you. it’s meant for new users who need that windows look and feel to get started…
I really don’t think Lindows, whatever else can be said about it, has a particularly Windows feel to it. It’s KDE and has the KDE feel to me.
I echo “some guy’s” response….it is not meant for you, but the more mini geeks that use Lindows…..the more real geeks get created!
Anything that brings new users to a Linux platform, whether it is touting itself as linux or otherwise is “A Good Thing(tm)” for the rest of the Linux user base.

Hum, my KDE feels vastly different from both Windows and Lindows. Since when is something having a “KDE feel” a curse?
