“Hulu on Tuesday announced on its blog that partner Viacom would be pulling its content from the service, and noted that shows like ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report’ would only be available through the beginning of next week. Though an inconvenience for Hulu users who had relied on the service’s subscription tools and new episode notifications, Hulu noted that most of the content that’s being pulled will still be available back on ComedyCentral.com.”
Being one of the vast majority of people who live outside of the USA, I’ve never been able to watch Hulu anyway.
…You can still watch both shows on Comedy Central’s own website. Viacom’s a massive media conglomerate, though, so I’m sure that other shows are coming off of Hulu as well… It’s just odd that everyone seems to be making a big deal about these two shows in particular. Perhaps the quality is worse on comedycentral.com? Or is it all just about convenience?

Because it is nice to be able to view content from one application or web site.
Hmmm… Does Boxee do Comedy Central’s web site? And for that matter, have Hulu finally given up on trying to keep them out? I mean, if they really want to, it seems like no one can stop them from perfectly emulating Firefox and Hulu can’t turn away the droves of FF users.
Because there is an entire slice of the population that worships one or both of those shows and treat them as one of their main source of news.
They also tend to use digg a lot…
I never much cared for Hulu.
Large resolution flash video made it too intensive to run on my Netbook.
And their artificially blocking Windows Mobile phones from accessing it through Skyfire, which can handle it perfectly fine, for legal reasons.
Runs okay on my linux netbook (not fullscreen). I could really care less for either of those shows so this is zero impact. I’m digging the japanese blind swordsman movies though.
Our netbook does just fine with fullscreen flash video with the huludesktop player… as long as you choose the low quality version. I decided a while back I don’t need high quality videos on a netbook, but I don’t really notice that much of a difference on the small 10.1″ display.
