The latest build of Snow Leopard, Apple’s upcoming operating system, is rumored to be the “Golden Master”, or final copy before the product will be released for duplication on optical media. Build 10A432 has been seeded to developers, and French Web site Mac 4 Ever has reported that the latest version is the final build, suggesting the product could be pressed onto discs very soon. The latest version of OS X is due to be released in September, but Apple has not announced an official date.
Snow leopard will sadly be leaving my G4s behind but I hope it will get even more out of my Mini 🙂
I like the idea of a new release being more polish and ‘under the hood’ without the impulsive need for more whiz-bang features!
dont get me wrong, whiz-bang is cool but as I grow older I am more and more drawn to stability over style
In the Snow Leopard descriptions I had so far missed the “QuickTime X” announcement.
I had used QuickTime when I used Windows (>5 yrs back) and I hated it. It was slow, sluggish, obnoxious and at times unworkable.
Now using a Mac, I have retained the negative attitude towards QT as well as a distinct preference for VLC. I have already experienced that files QT was supposed to support, it could not play, feeding my dislike.
Honestly, I do not suppose QTX will encourage me to use it in stead of VLC. I’m just startled by the fact that a company that produces so many media-related material is able to keep developing a player that is several times worse than Windows Media Player is… or was (there, I said it!).
You know, Microsoft was wise enough to change the infamous “Windows Mobile” name. Apple, c’mon and take a hint!
