The ASUS Eee Keyboard, which we drooled over before, has officially been announced – it will be released August 2009. “Asus has confirmed that its Eee keyboard, originally shown at CES, will be arriving in August. The company’s marketing executive, John Swatton, revealed the news while launching a bevy of new laptops.” Me? Want.
I’ve always liked the computer-in-a-keyboard idea, and wondered why it never really caught on more than it has. It saves a great deal of space as compared to a traditional tower or desktop and, if done right, would still be easy to maintain and get at the internals as well as to replace the keyboard top should that ever become necessary. It woudl allow more computer internally than something like the Mac Mini too yet while saving space even as compared to something like the Mini or the Eee Box. The whole idea has always just made sense to me, hopefully Asus can catch on with this.
I think that computer in a keyboard has caught on. The laptop computer market segment has been growing much faster than desktop for a while now.
What I think will make this a winner is the wireless HDMI connector. If that works as it is supposed to, this will be the perfect machine for living rooms everywhere.
This brings me back to my first computers … I wonder if someone can program the mini LCD screen to look like an audio tape drive spinnging whenever the cursor changes to “hour glass”!

Well this isn’t a new idea!
…nobody claimed that
In fact, in the old OSnews article, the similarity to machines from the good old homecomputer days was also mentioned
I wonder whether they are being sarcastic about 32GB and HD content.
I wonder how well it will run linux….

…ahead of schedule!
I wonder how these will sell? Probably hobbyists will want these more than anyone else…
Someone here in OSNews have suggested this, so I’ll repeat. Call it a KeeeBoard
Yeah I remember that, that would be a really cool name
