Instead of having too many appliances and devices plugged into one outlet, why not reverse the idea? In order to save ourselves from the rat’s nest of wires below the entertainment center (or the computer desk), David Friedman, photographer, had the idea to have an entire wall of plugs. Just imagine. No more crowded daisy-chains, no more losing pets and small children to the mess underneath, and just think how jealous the neighbors will be with the new sort of 21st-century art you’d have on your wall– changeable depending on your current mood, too!
Great idea up until you spill a drink
Do you spill drinks on the wall very often? =)~
I’m not sure about the aesthetics, but it’d certainly be a boom for the energy company, electricians, and whatever company makes those plastic child-proofing outlet inserts!
I do after a few drinks
I’m sure this is some kind of electrical code violation.
I believe there are actually limitations of how many outlets can be safely tied to a single circuit, and unless this guy has a separate circuit for every 10-20 outlets, I’m guessing no licensed electrician would assist in this project.
And I don’t want to kill the mood or anything, but this wall has to be absolute hell for EMI/RFI interference… it’s generally best, if you can, you run your low-voltage wiring as far away from your house electrical wiring, and whenever you do need to run near it, to cross over it perpendicular.
NO THANKS, this is a disaster waiting to happen.
Here in Europe, the standard says (or said?) you can attach max. 10 sockets per one circuit with one 16 A circuit breaker.
As the sockets are usually ready to be “daisy-chained”, the wall as pictured is pretty well doable – but not very practical, sure. Who’d put the plug somewhere near the ceiling anyway?
