It’s arriving about two months later than originally scheduled (and didn’t arrive in 2008 like Intel wanted), but X Server 1.6 has been officially released this afternoon and it wasn’t 212 days late like the infamous X Server 1.4.1 release. X Server 1.6 introduces the server bits for Direct Rendering Infrastructure 2 (the 3D bits can already be found in Mesa and the Intel driver), X Input 1.5 with device properties, Predictable Pointer Acceleration, and RandR 1.3. Beyond those key features, there are also a number of bug-fixes, EXA improvements, and various other improvements.
well i was hoping that it was taking longer because it was going ot be more feature complete. X serve 1.6 is to X serve and OpenGL 3.0 is to OpenGL, glad to see things are moving along, but there was a lot left to wanting.
looking forward to X serve 1.70 and X.org 7.5
My main board is Intel-DG45ID, onboard G4500 display (hdmi),
i want to ask, if for performance which one is better?
UXA or EXA?

for Via chipsets icluded?
I said it before and I’ll say it again, Xorg needs to be more realistic about their releases. The DRI2 architcture is a year behind schedule. Xorg 1.5 was supposed to fully support DRI2 including UXA. Then this was promised for 1.6 before 2009. Now its March and we finally have 1.6, but no UXA support. At least Intel users have access to UXA in the Intel driver but the last time I tried it performance was lacking. In fact I cannot seem to get decent 3D performance in >=2.6.28 kernel whether I use EXA or UXA.
