iMAndroid has screenshots and a video of Google’s Android mobile platform running on the Neo Freerunner. “Some new shots & specs exclusive to iMAndroid have emerged. The pics are of Neo FreeRunner device running Android Platform. A little fuzzy, but its very likely that Neo FreeRunner will be the second Android Phone!”
Great news for Freerunner owners and the Android community!
I’m hoping that somebody works out how to boot Linux/ Android on the n95 series of phones. Its a great bit of hardware let down by symbian/ Nokia’s locked-down OS with piss poor memory management.
There’s certainly a lot more n9x owners out there than Freerunners and I know many would love to be able to switch to/ boot Linux like me.
Android has been ported to and running on the Nokia N800 and N810 for a few weeks now. The port is nearing usefulness (as in, it runs okay, but things like battery indicator and dual booting isn’t working.)
Hi memson!
Thanks for the link to NITdroid- that was exactly what I was looking for seeing as the n810 is pretty much the same chipset as in the n95 as I understand.
I can live without opengles graphics accel no prob, but sound, GPS and battery monitoring are certainly all ‘must-haves’ for serious use for me, and these are all currently lacking under NITdroid at the mo it would seem and theres no mention of a n9X port.

Sorry, no idea about the N9X series. The Nokia Internet Tablets run Maemo (Linux based) and most of the OS is opensource now.
I did submit a story here, but it doesn’t sseem to have been picked up.

Let me know when it has been done.
Then I can enjoy my phone instead of using the crap Symbian OS.
