Linux Devices writes about Intel’s Moblin effort. Moblin is a environment for netbooks. Originally based on Ubuntu, Moblin recently switched to Fedora citing RPM and a completely Free and open source base as among the benefits. As Linux based netbooks continue to grow rapidly, efforts like Moblin are interesting to watch.
And now it’s coming home to bite them!
Switched from Ubuntu to Fedora because Fedora is 100% free software… and then “There will be DRM in some implementations – things you don’t agree with, but the thing is you can build an open stack,”
This doesn’t make too much sense, at least from the “freedom” perspective. I understand that from the corporate “do not pay royalties” perspective it’s a different matter.
