We need more articles like this, educating people on how to get more out of their FLOSS! Personally i’d like it if there were better tools available for us to be able to make use of Evolution Mail, since it seems to be the default choice for mail in so many Linux Distros!

PS: Check out the funny cartoon on the top right! Too true…
Or is it really complicated to do a mail merge in OpenOffice?
This is even the easier method. There is an assistant built into OpenOffice, but it’s total crap.
Unfortunately, corporate policy requires that only OpenOffice shall be used by our employees, so I regularly have to assist them when it comes to mail merge, which they could have done all by themselves if they were allowed to use MS Office (heck, we do even own the licences…)
At least OpenOffice comes in a neat MSI package.
Tell me about it. It would be faster to just dump the contents of the spreadsheeet into an SQL DB and use a bit of PHP to do the merging.
