Opera Software announced the availability of Opera Mini 4.1 for cellphones, which introduces the following new features: Opera Mini 4.1 is up to 50% faster than Opera Mini 4.0. The new Opera Mini will automatically suggest URL completions, making address input easy and intuitive. Web pages can be saved for later off-line viewing (newer Java implementation required). Opera Mini 4.1 gives you quick access to the word or phrase you want in Web pages. Images, ringtones and other content can be downloaded without leaving Opera Mini. You can test Opera Mini 4.1 from within your browser too (if you scroll all the way down on the mobile page of OSNews you can select between our desktop and mobile version).

Its far far better than the browser that I have for nokia e61i and also faster… One think that I miss is the pointer instead of “jumping-to-links-function”
Its nice the way that contents are presented in the front of the browser page and the google search.
And the sync opera is a very nice feature.
As a Firefox user I expect Mozilla to release their Mobile version ASAP.

…but it won’t be Java-based so the potential user-base will be much smaller; Opera Mini OTOH runs even on quite old JME implementations, like the one on my dear old Nokia 6230 or the one in most WindowsMobile2003-based devices, which are still quite used.

I’m usually a bit negative about this browser because the magnification gets in the way, at least, on my 320×240 display. Version 4.1 seems to end up with fewer of those pages being zoomed out, which is a plus for me.
Landscape mode is great and the ability to synchronise bookmarks was already good in version 4. Besides, it knows how to dial phone numbers, something the phone’s own browser doesn’t.
They mentioned that they’ve upgraded their servers that do the transformations, so that the experience is quicker and that can’t be a bad thing, either.
And it still doesn’t run on BREW
Its times like these I really hate being a verizon customer.
I’m with you. I generally don’t care for using my phone for much more than having a phone conversation with someone, but when I showed my brother the demo, he wanted it, and I quickly found out (again) what a crappy company Verizon can be. 😐
beats any internal phone browser hands down.
My biggest complaint is not being able to use t9 text in some areas and being able to choose in others.
This may be my sony w880i causing the problems though.
4.1 has added things i really wanted so go opera team you make awesome browsers!
Runs circles around the Blackberry browser on my Curve. Would be nice to change the browser user agent ID.

I have a blackberry curve 8310 with at&t and the browser that came with it are useless, opera mini 4.1 has brought new life to it thank you opera.
