“The Christmas 2007 show, a relatively quiet affair held earlier this weekend in leafy Warwickshire, has been and gone. The main highlight was the appearance of Paul Stewart’s home made portable RISC OS machine. Paul has managed to pack an A9home, laptop keyboard, touch pad, flatscreen monitor, a couple of speakers and other bits and pieces into what appears to be a slim flight case. Although he is remaining tight lipped about the project, Paul is set to reveal more details in the new year. It’s understood the case has sockets for USB, video-out and ethernet, includes electronics to take power from a battery, and video is supplied to the flatscreen via analogue VGA.”
Very James Bond…but it needs a tranquilizer dart shooting out of a port then I’d pay to have one. Would come in handy when someone starts yapping into their phone when I’m on the train, lol.
a cheap suitcase. Fat and ugly. But not bad for a DIY. Creative.

If DIY hardware is on-topic for this site, then I’m going to have to start submitting links to things like the homemade C64 Laptop and new kits for build-it-yourself Apple Is going on sale.

No kidding. Would love to dust off the old C64 and see if I could put it to good use.

Somehow, as soon as you mentioned it I thought of the DTV Hummer…
Can you post that link for the Apple II?
Another guy has taken a different approach to making a RISC OS laptop.

I’ve been considering the benefits of possibly making a case like this and putting together my very own version of an Eee type device. It might be more expensive but at least I’d know it would work. I could even hack together a SSD hard drive for it…. of a sort. Look at this for one way to go about it: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/create-your-own-solid-state-…
