sigh. one day I’ll write a release announcement WITHOUT a stupid typo in it…:)
500 bugs?! You call that “Release Candidate” ??
With Mandriva it’s always like this. RCs aren’t real RC’s…..
By the way : The One KDE i586 is online !

And yet it is a good distribution. It was my first one and I loved it. I changed to SUSE and Debian (actually Libranet) only because of hardware support issues.
Indeed, it’s a pitty that Mandriva is loosing it’s place in the spotlight, since it is a great distro, I too started my Linux affair with Mandrake.
Nowadays I prefer using Fedora for myself, but on other’s computers I always go for Mandriva for its general speed and ease of configuration.
By the way, good work for the devs. That number of bug fixes sure looks impressive! And thanks for the nice list of documented new features
PS: there’s a typo in the article summary where it says “500 bug fixes since RC2” – should be since RC1.

Go Mandriva!!!
Hope this release will reinforce the position of Mandriva as a truly desktop oriented distro with great flexibility for power-users too.
The past couple of releases have been absolutely top notch and I am quite confident that this trend continues.
What mandriva is slowly learning is that communication with the community is much more important then rock solid distribution (as we can see with ubuntu – sorry I just had to say it ). I really like all the beta and rc wiki pages with the “what’s new” and “Notes” pages.
In the past Mandriva has been a bit like Novell writ small. The management team could and would screw up anything that went right.
e.g. firing Gael Duval, over-priced club, weird software-install portal (whatever happened to that anyway?), poor communication with users, shocking release bugs, screwed up the deal with LinDVD, etc. etc.
Hopefully this is all in the past now. Although it would be good to see the club cost lowered and have LinDVD back for 2008.0.
disappointing …
It just got uploaded a couple of minutes ago to the master mirror. Will sync to other mirrors soon.
Which file is the “One combined live / install CD edition”? I’ve been waiting for this one, but I can’t distinguish it from the other RC2 files.
Thanks.
it’s not on the public mirrors yet – it only just got uploaded a couple of minutes ago. It will have ‘One’ in the name when it appears.
O.K., thanks for letting us know.
