and the recent announcement that wibree will become part of the bluetooth stack makes for happy days when it comes to PAN’s.
i just wonder when we will see a setup like the concept that frog design made for motorola way back when…
Verizon shuts off all of the cool stuff.
i was just thinking that will be more things for sony to prevent you doing on their phones then – like using bluetooth to get/put files instead of using data cables or sms.
The iPhone will be cooler with the new bluetooth.
Good now I have a reason to wait for it to come down in price. I didn’t really have $600 laying around
maybe now I have a reason to get Bluetooth in my devices.
(Except if you have a fancy cellphone and car… then Bluetooth sure is handy)
As for the ‘buying stuff with cell phone’; I do wonder if this is healthy for some people when they go on a shopping spree/campaign.

Just can’t wait to get BT spam on my cell-phone…
“Ugh, No I didn’t want to buy this car! I only passed by it!”
thats why there is a off switch for the bluetooth…
and btw, BT is the classical old short for british telecom. the old national monopoly for great britain.
People still live in Britain? I thought they all came to America on the Mayflower? (at least the ones not imprisoned in Australia)

Why stop with automobiles? The juicy steaks at your local meat counter could give you the pitch about how tender and delicious they are, a la “The Restaurant At the End of the Universe”. 🙂
I’m looking forward to using wireless in my digital camera, and ideally something like from my computer to my monitor and mice. There are so many wires in my home! The only problem is that there are so my protocols in the pipeline. Who knows if they’ll improve and by the time 3.0 is released, they’ll probably announce 5.0.
It may as well be a different protocol.
“since it will enable users to transfer video between TVs and cell phones”
What world are they living in? In this world you can’t legally get most content into a personal media player due to the DMCA. What are the chances the content providers will allow this? Unless of course you are willing to be automatically charged $5.99 for that episode of “Survivor” so you can watch it on your 1.8″ screen. Who thinks up this stuff?
As for using your cell phone to buy stuff, I could never see a need/desire for that capability either…until I saw everyone in Japan doing it.
there is a kind of disconnect between the tech industry and the media industry…
but when they say transfer im guessing that what they really mean is stream. as in, you will not copy the whole movie onto the tv before viewing, but stream it as one goes along.

The same world as i’m living in, any non-usa country. The DCMA is a US law, and i’m very happy those don’t apply outside the US.
Hard as it seems to be for some to realize, The USA !=The world. Thank God.
Why does everything have to rush in, rush out, in such a pace? Can we just let a standard, actually become a _standard_, that is common and well supported before we create a new one.
Oh I forgot, then there would be no room for a great sales pitch… ($$$)
Greetings gnome user.
People only say that once they are comfortable with the latest NEW version of something and it’s features. Have you ever thought that what you’re now comfortable with was NEW at one point?
And there’s no reason you have to rush out and buy the latest and greatest yourself. You can can use flint to start the fires in your cave dwelling as long as you want, I won’t stop you.

You are being a bit dramatic, don’t you agree?
You got me all wrong. Really!
I’m _not_ conservative. Belive me. I’m just saying things are rushed nowadays.
Is it so hard to belive i’m pro NEW? All i’m saying people are throwing half baked attempts of technologies at us, just to be _first_, creating several “standards” where one would suffice.
If you do something, then do it _good_!

I wish they were talking about our notoriously bad vehicle traffic here in Seattle.
