OLPC Talks has several transcripts from the OLPC presentations (where we learned that Windows can run on the OLPC). Walter Bender talks about giving each child a Gmail account for storage, Red Hat’s Christopher Blizzard talks about it’s unique software installation, and more.
The OLPC people should make agreements to use the Loongson processor in the next version so Microsoft cannot sabotage the project anymore.
Loongson 2F will use 2W max at 1GHz and is comparable in performance to Digital’s Alpha and SGI’s MIPS processors with a much lower power envelope.

I’d hardly call Microsofts envolvment ‘sabotage’. Linux is the default OS and all the OLPC project have done is given the 3rd world an option to install Windows should the choose to. Windows is no more forced upon them as it is on Mac users.
