Progeny Linux, have announced that they will no longer be producing their shrink wrapped distribution of Debian Linux. Progeny plans to continue its Linux consulting service. The company cited the expense of producing a boxed distro in an increasingly competitive market, and the fact that its offerings are now mostly available in the main Debian archive.
Progeny was never a “Leading Linux Company”. However, Debian IS a leading Linux distribution, big difference.

Progeny Linux was a great distro. Enhanced features and a great installer on top of Debian, who could go wrong with that? They just didn’t get the exposure they deserved. I’m sad to see them leave the distro market, but I guess all good things come to an end.
