Submitted by The unexpected fifth release candidate of Slackware Linux 11.0 has been announced in the current changelog: “This is the last one, scout’s honor.” Last week has brought a number of updates, including Subversion 1.4.0, an svn release of espgs 8.15.3, security updates to Firefox, Thunderbird, and SeaMonkey, as well as many rebuilds of existing package versions to fix bugs or add new functionality. As usual, there are no official ISO images released for download, but a good list of Slackware mirrors can be found here, while a recent unofficial CD image set built from the current tree is available here.
Can’t wait until 11 is offcially out. w00t!

I can think of a dozen reasons why I would never touch Slackware. However I will say that I’m glad Pat has recovered from his mysterious illness and back doing his thing. 🙂

That’s why I stay away from Slackware. I still think it’s great to have Slackware around. But for me it was and is Debian. Nothing can beat apt
Install Ubuntu, Fedora, openSuse. All the cool kids do.
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT install Slackware, Arch, FreeBSD. It’s not for you.

I remember I used to use Slackware, this was the best distro ever made for me, I have too much respect for Slackware, I growed up with this distribution, so I want to say, thanks Patrick!
Slackware was the distribution that teached me Linux, I started with Red Hat, Mandrake, etc and then I switched to Slackware for some years, after that I wanted more control in my system and I went with LFS, after that I’ve got a bit tired and went to Gentoo 
I will always consider Slackware as one of my favorite distributions.
