Why does Microsoft INSIST that their downloads are in exe format instead of just providing a link to a wmv file like they do on their channel 9 site.
I mean, they’re trying to get people to keep people interested in Windows, their main targets are those who most likely aren’t going to be running windows (aka technology focused people) so why make the information, which could be useful for marketing their products, inaccessible to those who might actually have a say in the final decision making process.
You can probably extract it with RAR (at least the Windows version works).

If not, search for apps that extract cabs (the download is a self-extracting cab file) on your platform.
I ran/extracted this successfully under Wine and played it successfully in mplayer 🙂
The .NET show… that reminds me of… mmmm… Erica Wiechers!
The drop-dead gorgeous blonde dream of all .net programmers!
Another reason why OSS is absolutely & ultimatly inferior: no show, no Erica, no sex.
“The .NET show… that reminds me of… mmmm… Erica Wiechers!”
Who?
I can’t resist.
`Where’s the BEEF?`
I actually am in Windows right now and can’t even view it with the “Watch the video” Play button. Get some crappy error about the URL being wrong. How do you post a video with the wrong URL, post it to OSNews and not test it?
Same problem here, I just downloaded it, which is what I wanted to do anyway.
It won’t even BOOT on some of my systems. How dare the folks at the .NET show presume that I have even the slightest interest in this product…?
Can someone point me to some URL where ALL the features new to/planned for Longhorn Server are listed? The Wikipedia article is too scarce. And MS’s website is too scattered.
Pretty sure this doesn’t contain all features, but it should include most of the major ones:
