Sony launched on Tuesday the Vaio VGC-LS1 desktop, which serves dual roles as personal computer and TV. The system comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse, as well as with a remote control that can switch the monitor from a Windows-based PC to a TV, thanks to a built-in tuner. With technology similar to a digital video recorder, TV shows can be saved on the computer’s 250GB hard drive and burned onto DVDs. Sony has also designed its new computer for space efficiency: Like Apple Computer’s iMac, the VGC-LS1‘s hardware is packed into the back of its LCD screen.
So it’s just a Media Centre PC that can do TV without booting the computer then? How innovative…

This could only be useful for a single person. Otherwise, it would be a powerful weapon for breaking up families. Imagine the arguments. ^^
thats why you get multiples and wire them all to a central hub that supply all the music, movies and whatsnot that you feel like downloading.
welcome to the 21th, where its no longer a 1 computer household
uh, nevermind.

Kinda pricy but it comes with a nice big screen and the clear plastic is a very nice touch. Overall I like this better than Apple’s idea only the OS kinda sux. There isn’t much info on the tuner used but if it’s something like the new ATI ( 650 ) then the OS is a small price to pay.
I never understood, well at least I never saw, why they didn’t release a kind of big “mobile desk”, a nice TV plus sound system plus computer that you could just fold and carry on to our house or to our work place. I really don’t have a use for something that I should use on a flight or airport or … (insert a place you should better use your time to read books, chat with other human been at your side or do physical activities like run, play, …), but I do have for something easy to grab. It is needed to students too, well the classrooms should get more power plugs, with the benefit of prevent our kids to be distracted when they are with us on the wild. Imageine no more computer and television and soundd system on to get all space of our rooms, what a dream thing.
No, Sony device is not one of that I’m talking about, should be fold and carry.
Oh, I forgot, the chance to them explode gets lowered too.
this is nothing new sony was doing this way before apple so i don’t see why they compare the system to the imac.
